Yesterday, a friend’s 19 year old daughter underwent a very precarious brain surgery to repair some damaged veins. A couple of weeks ago, another buddy brought his newborn daughter home after several months in the hospital with heart problems that necessitated open heart surgery. Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died yesterday. Both were pop culture icons and contributed much to many. I had “the” Farrah poster hanging on in my room as a kid and I had Jackson Five coloring books and was an MJ fan until he got a little too weird. I still play my “Off The Wall” CD from time to time. A couple of weeks ago, I fell asleep on the couch watching Sportscenter and was awakened at about 3 o’clock in the morning to my daughter standing next to my head saying, “Daddy, my shirt got wet.” As I managed to peel my eyes open, I noticed that her shirt was, indeed, wet. Nineteen years ago today, my friend, Andy and I went on a wild drunken adventure through the sprawling hills of the Palouse territory outside of Pullman.
