Feel Good Friday is a little wet!!!!
I got yelled at the other morning for playing Jimmy Buffett music. My kids hate it because they say I play it too much. My wife hates it because she says it contributes to my fantasy of living this island beach bum, laid back lifestyle that does not contribute to my proper engagement in the things I “should” be doing. Well, they are both probably right. Nonetheless, I’m listening to it right now and feeling pretty good this FGF!! A couple of days ago I was enlightened a bit by one of my other Trop Rock dudes in a song about “Traveling Light”. I realized how heavy I travel. I have a minimalist nature, but live as a maximumist!! I have too much crap. I think many people do. My greatest source of stress is having too much of what I don’t need, be it a full storage room or over-stuffed garage to too many time-sucking activities from which I get little reward. I am constantly tripping over all this STUFF!! Clutter, plain and simple. This FGF I resolve to and encourage others to evaluate where the “clutter” is in life and make a dump run!! Literally or figuratively. It is very cleansing. If it is not “beautiful or useful” get rid of it!! Keep only things of value. I am at my most peaceful and thoughtful in open space. Creating more open space in life is very liberating. So this FGF consider your life and what you need and what you don’t, bag up the stuff you don’t and set it by the curb!!! Travel light!!!
